9 chic ways to stay away from the Mini skirt

So the mini skirt bill was passed! Interesting Uganda we love you to bits! We were treated to interesting news yesterday that a new law banning people from wearing anything that might be a representation of the ‘sexual parts of a person for primary sexual excitement’ had been passed. Whatever that means and where it is headed, we hope Ugandans still maintain their freedom of expression through fashion.

That said, it’s not true that a woman cannot stay away from a mini skirt. Showing no or less skin is very trendy. Here we share 9 ways you can show less skin but look chic and sophisticated.

1. Long form fitting dress

This dress will flatter your body making the right statement in the right way. With a dress in a metallic colour, opt for less or no accessories. I’ll not talk about the hair, I guess you all can do better than these two beauties.

2 Long sleeved dresses

A dress like this one is not far from the definition of sophistication. These dresses range from quite a number of  designs and details. You can switch this one with one with African detail.

3. Men’s wear/ Pantsuit

This is arguably the easiest way you can show very little skin but come off stylish. Angelina Jolie wore this Saint Laurent number stealing the show from the likes of Lupita. This was a stunner!

4. Gowns

Yes she showed a bit of cleavage, it doesn’t hurt. For high end events, with a red carpet, gowns have been the staple over the years. Let’s go back to where it all started. Wear gown to redcarpet events. Designers such as Santa Anzo have them in plenty.

5. Lace Dresses

 There is always something regal about a lace dress. Lace will never go out of style. That’s for sure. Make sure it is not a ‘mini dress’ though.

 Jumpsuits are in once again. Cover it all up in a jumpsuit and rock away. With a jump suit edge is your second name.

7. Pants

Many people still find this look very casual. However when they’ve banned you from your short skirt . what else will be there for you to wear? With the right accessories, shoes and top this can do anything. You can go for parties just after leaving office. And no one will whine over you showing any skin.

8. Billowing high waited skirt

We still can’t get over Kerry Washington’s red carpet look where she wore a Prada crop top and a billowing high waited skirt. This is the real definition of chic. Enough said.

9. Form fitting pencil skirts

With your pencil skirt you can do almost anything. Thanks to the fact that it goes slightly beyond the knees.

Nothing should deter you from looking good. If they don’t want a mini skirt, there’s just a lot more to wear besides it. We can now move onto more important issues.
